Los cursos de e-learning se han convertido en algo habitual en el mundo empresarial moderno. Muchas empresas utilizan alguna forma de eLearning para formar a sus empleados en temas que van desde la prevenci\u00f3n del acoso sexual hasta los principios de contabilidad. Aunque hay muchas formas diferentes de ofrecer contenidos de eLearning, uno de los m\u00e9todos m\u00e1s populares es a trav\u00e9s de SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model). Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 es SCORM y por qu\u00e9 es tan popular? En esta gu\u00eda intentaremos responder a estas preguntas.<\/span><\/p>

En resumen, SCORM es un conjunto de normas t\u00e9cnicas que definen c\u00f3mo interact\u00faan entre s\u00ed los contenidos de eLearning y los sistemas de gesti\u00f3n del aprendizaje (LMS). SCORM fue desarrollado originalmente por el Departamento de Defensa de EE.UU. para estandarizar la forma en que los contenidos de formaci\u00f3n militar se impart\u00edan a trav\u00e9s de diversos LMS. Desde su creaci\u00f3n, SCORM ha sido adoptado tanto por el sector p\u00fablico como por el privado para garantizar que los empleados puedan acceder a los cursos de eLearning y completarlos utilizando cualquier LMS compatible.<\/span><\/p>

\u00bfQu\u00e9 es SCORM?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

SCORM funciona empaquetando (archivos .zip especiales) contenidos de eLearning en \"m\u00f3dulos\" que pueden cargarse en un LMS. Una vez desarrollado el contenido, los empleados pueden acceder a los m\u00f3dulos y completarlos utilizando cualquier LMS compatible. Adem\u00e1s, como SCORM es una norma t\u00e9cnica, permite a los LMS hacer un seguimiento del progreso y los resultados de los empleados en los distintos tipos de cursos. Los responsables de RRHH y los formadores pueden utilizar estos datos para evaluar la comprensi\u00f3n del material del curso por parte de los empleados e identificar las \u00e1reas en las que puede ser necesaria formaci\u00f3n adicional.<\/span><\/p>

Existen tres versiones principales de SCORM: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 3\u00aa edici\u00f3n y SCORM 2004 4\u00aa edici\u00f3n. SCORM 1.2 es la m\u00e1s adoptada, aunque las tres versiones siguen utiliz\u00e1ndose en la actualidad.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es importante SCORM?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Hay dos razones principales por las que es tan importante cumplir con SCORM:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

  1. Interoperabilidad: Una de las mayores ventajas de SCORM es que permite utilizar los cursos de eLearning en cualquier LMS compatible con SCORM. Esta interoperabilidad facilita a los instructores subir sus cursos a m\u00faltiples LMS sin tener que preocuparse por problemas de compatibilidad.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  2. Portabilidad: Adem\u00e1s de poder cargar cursos en varios LMS con facilidad, los cursos creados con el est\u00e1ndar SCORM tambi\u00e9n pueden exportarse desde un LMS e importarse a otro, de nuevo, sin problemas de compatibilidad. Esta portabilidad ofrece a los instructores la libertad de elegir el LMS que mejor se adapte a sus necesidades, con la seguridad de que no tendr\u00e1n que empezar de cero si necesitan cambiar de plataforma m\u00e1s adelante.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

Esto elimina la necesidad de que las empresas contraten a distintos proveedores para desarrollar cursos espec\u00edficos para su LMS, lo que puede ahorrar tiempo y dinero.<\/span><\/p>

    En resumen, SCORM es una forma popular de entregar contenidos de eLearning porque es flexible, interoperable y medible. Al utilizar SCORM, no se ver\u00e1 atrapado en el LMS que est\u00e9 utilizando. Esto significa que podr\u00e1 tomar contenidos (SCORM) desarrollados hace, digamos, 3 a\u00f1os y trasladarlos sin problemas a su nuevo LMS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
