Dear teachers,
Creating an online lesson can be a great way to supplement traditional classroom instruction or give students extra practice outside of the physical classroom. But where do you start to build such a lesson? We offer some tips for creating an online lesson that is engaging, useful and easy to follow.
1. Lesson planning. What topics will you cover? What concepts do you want your students to master? How will you structure the lesson? Once you have a plan, you can start creating your content.
2. Next, decide what format your lesson will take. Will it be a video lesson? A multi-picture presentation? A document that can't even be called an online lesson? A combination of these? Keep in mind that different formats will work better for different types of lessons. For example, if you are teaching a complex concept that requires explanations and examples, a video lesson will not be the best option, you will need to have more than one type of 'resource'.
3. Now that you've planned and created your content, it's time to put it all together! Organize your materials in an easily accessible format so students can quickly and easily find what they need. When using multiple media formats (e.g., videos, pictures, quizzes, tabs, sounds, galleries, quizzes, characters, etc.), be sure to provide clear instructions on how students should access and use them.
4. Finally, don't forget to include the evaluation component in your online lesson. Assessment is important because it allows you to gauge your students' understanding and identify areas that need further clarification or revision.
Creating an online lesson may seem like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be! By following the tips outlined in this post, you can create an engaging and effective online lesson that will complement traditional classroom instruction and provide value for your students.
What you need to do is to actually go in and try to realize a lesson with a simple structure. To get started more easily we have created a free LIVRESQ template for teachers who are just getting started in making their lessons digital.
This can be used to start the actual work. It's called Prima.
The structure of the template is this:
✅ Lesson Title
✅ Author
✅ Video - can be Youtube, vimeo, etc
✅ Testing - quizzes (single-answer, draw and place)
The template is very useful for those who want to create short, easy-to-follow lessons. Kids can then access it from their phone.
